At the end of 2023, after attempting to restrengthen my core postpartum, I developed pelvic and pelvic floor symptoms and discomfort that took hold of my daily life. I experienced burning urination, pelvic fullness and discomfort, constipation and low back pain. I received no ‘concrete diagnosis’ from my medical provider, so as a long time bodyworker and teacher (~15 years), I knew this was a soft tissue and alignment related issue and sought out teachings, modalities and exercises to help me troubleshoot my symptoms.
Thankfully, I found RYC. After trying out just a couple of Lauren’s IG exercises, I felt some relief and greater awareness around my pelvis and pelvic floor. I immediately signed up for the RYC 12 week program and Teacher Training as I knew this was something my clients would benefit from as well.
Through the program, I realized I had a significant anterior pelvic tilt, hyper tense pelvic floor and through my self explorations, realized there was a big connection between my physical sensations and the emotional/mental stress I was experiencing at the time. Moving my body in new ways, strengthening my core all while regulating my nervous system really helped me face the difficulty in my life and make the changes I needed to in my life and environment.
With dedication, I have lessened and/or healed my symptoms, feel stronger than ever and have gained the tools to feel confident again in how I move and how to help my clients. I know what it is to start from scratch and build strength from the ground up and my background as a bodyworker and teacher of all things body-wise provides me with the framework to work with the whole you, body, mind, soul. As a certified RYC teacher, I am so excited to share this life changing method. I offer 1:1 assessment sessions and group RYC movement classes both online and in person at my beautiful office in Brattleboro, VT.
