RYC® Bump & Birth

A pelvic floor ready for birth

Your pelvic floor has to both contract and yield, and switch between the two as your baby moves down and through.

Most preparation trains only the contracting. A pelvic floor that has only learned to grip cannot release when it counts, and that letting go – and the ease of moving between the two – is the part that usually gets missed. It’s what proactive pelvic floor prep is built to train.

What women are saying

Riina Arund

"After being diagnosed with diastasis recti and an umbilical hernia following my 2nd birth, I carried a lot of fear about my body in later pregnancies. During my 4th pregnancy, I practiced RYC® 2-3 times a week, and it changed how I felt completely.

Instead of wondering how my body would cope, I felt strong, supported and trusting of my body. I stayed active – walking, body-weight training, moving with my kids – and felt so much more at ease. Birth was quick, and my recovery felt noticeably smoother than after my previous births."

Riina Arund, Movement teacher

regina-schmitt-profilbild-meer

"During my second pregnancy, I was already an RYC® teacher, and alongside my own classes I always came back to RYC®. In my early months I could practice up to stage 3, and whenever I had an SPD or SIJ flare-up, the SI joint classes helped me instantly.

I felt amazing and strong throughout this pregnancy.

Soon after giving birth, I started with movements from RYC® again – I believe the shoulder rotations especially helped me have far less shoulder pain from nursing than with my firstborn."

who built this

Lauren Ohayon

Founder, Restore Your Core®

For more than 25 years, I’ve been teaching women how their core and pelvic floor actually work – through pregnancy, birth, recovery and beyond. My method, Restore Your Core®, treats the pelvic floor as part of a whole system: breath, ribs, pressure, gait, the nervous system, and the everyday movement patterns that shape how the body works.

That same approach is what I brought to teaching in-person prenatal childbirth classes in New York, to guiding thousands of women as they prepared and healed their bodies through pregnancy, birth and recovery, and to co-founding One Strong Mama, now Body Ready Method®. In the years since, I’ve refined it into the RYC® prenatal pelvic floor tools and the proactive pelvic floor prep this program is built on.

Bump & Birth is the pregnancy program I’ve wished I could hand every woman I’ve ever worked with. It’s the same work I now teach to doulas, midwives, physiotherapists and movement professionals around the world – made for you to use at home, at your own pace, wherever you are in your pregnancy.

What women are saying

Frame 2147228172

"After my birth I was in pain for almost a year, dealing with an injured pelvic floor, prolapse and incontinence, and kept being told to just come back later. What I needed most was someone to prepare me and walk beside me – and I didn't have that. If Bump had existed when I was pregnant, my story could have been so different."

Aimée, Project manager, movement teacher

Frame 2147228173

"I started RYC after my 4th pregnancy to help with weakened core muscles and recurring back pain. I was so pleased with my recovery. When I became pregnant with my 5th and 6th babies I continued doing RYC during my pregnancies to keep my core and pelvic floor strong. I believe that RYC helped me to have easier labors, and I could tell a difference in my recovery following this method. I would recommend it to all women who are preparing for pregnancy, are currently pregnant, and who are recovering postpartum."

Common questions

What is Bump & Birth?

RYC® Bump & Birth is an online pregnancy and birth preparation program created by Lauren Ohayon, founder of Restore Your Core®. It combines pregnancy workouts, birth preparation training, pain and symptom support for common pregnancy conditions, and early postpartum recovery into a single $97 program with lifetime access. The core of the method trains the pelvic floor, breath, and nervous system together, so the same preparation that supports a comfortable pregnancy also trains the body for labor. It’s recommended by OB/GYNs, midwives, pelvic health professionals, and doulas in 80+ countries.

When should I start?

Any time. First trimester through 38 weeks.

What’s included in Bump & Birth?

Bump & Birth includes 7 pregnancy workouts, birth preparation videos, 7 pain and symptom videos for common pregnancy conditions, the Simple Six daily movement practice, nervous system training woven throughout, foundational framework videos, and a How to Guide to help you find where to start. It’s a one-time purchase with lifetime access across every pregnancy.

I’m not very active. Is this pregnancy and birth preparation program for me?

Workouts are 18 minutes or less. The Simple Six need no mat, no equipment – just a few minutes wherever you are.

I’m planning a cesarean. Is this relevant?

Absolutely. Your nervous system, your breath, your core and pelvic floor coordination, and your body’s capacity to recover are all important, regardless of how your baby is born.

Birth is still a profound physical experience, whether it happens vaginally or by cesarean. Preparing your body to manage pressure well, move efficiently, breathe with awareness, and respond rather than brace can support you throughout pregnancy and into recovery.

What if I have SPD, SI joint pain, or another specific condition?

There’s a dedicated video for each one that explains why these things can happen and gives a workout to help. You’ll find those easily inside the program.

Do I get lifetime access?

Yes – one purchase covers you for every pregnancy, with no repeat fees and no re-enrolling. The program is yours to return to whenever you need it.

I’ve given birth before. Is this still useful for my second or third pregnancy?

Yes – often more so. Women who have given birth before know exactly what they wish they’d prepared differently. If your pelvic floor was too tense, if pushing was harder than expected, if recovery was slow – those are the specific things this program trains. Lifetime access means one purchase covers every pregnancy.

What about after birth?

Bump & Birth includes an early postpartum workout designed for gentle movement from 2–6 weeks, with specific guidance on early recovery. It also creates a pathway into the full RYC® postpartum program.

How is this different from a birth class?

A birth class gives you knowledge of what to expect – the stages of labor, what happens and when, how to use breathing techniques in the moment. Bump & Birth trains your body to do its part: your pelvic floor learns to release under pressure, your breath learns to drive that release, and your nervous system learns to stay regulated enough to let it happen. The two complement each other well, and Bump & Birth also covers the full pregnancy – fitness, pain support, and early postpartum recovery – in a single program.

Is Bump & Birth recommended by medical professionals?

Yes. Bump & Birth is recommended by OB/GYNs, midwives, pelvic health professionals, and doulas in 80+ countries, and created by Lauren Ohayon, founder of Restore Your Core®, who has spent more than 25 years teaching pregnant and postpartum bodies how their core and pelvic floor actually work. The method is also taught to and used by more than 700 trained movement and pelvic health professionals worldwide.

How do I prepare my pelvic floor for birth?

Most birth preparation focuses on strengthening the pelvic floor using contractions like kegels however birth requires our pelvic floor to yield.

During the pushing stage of labor, your pelvic floor doesn’t simply relax. It lengthens while staying responsive as your baby moves through the birth canal. That requires coordination between your pelvic floor, your breath, your core, and your nervous system.

If your body has learned to grip when you’re under stress, it can be much harder to access that responsive, yielding quality when you need it most.

That’s why we don’t spend pregnancy doing endless pelvic floor contractions.

One of the most effective ways to support your pelvic floor is by training it as part of your whole core system. When your breath and core work well together, your pelvic floor naturally responds. It learns to contract when it needs to, lengthen when it needs to, and adapt to the demands being placed on it.

RYC® Bump & Birth is built around helping you develop that reflexive coordination throughout pregnancy. From your first trimester through the final weeks before birth, you’ll learn how to move, breathe, and build a core and pelvic floor that are strong, adaptable, and responsive.

What can I do during pregnancy to make birth easier?

The most effective preparation targets the systems your body relies on most in labor: your pelvic floor’s capacity to yield, your breath’s ability to work with contractions, and your nervous system’s capacity to stay centered through intensity. These are all trainable, and women who train them describe feeling present and capable in birth. RYC® Bump & Birth builds this preparation alongside pregnancy fitness, pain and symptom support, and early postpartum recovery – so the whole period from conception through the first weeks after birth is covered in one place.

Is there an online program that helps with pregnancy back pain and pelvic floor at the same time?

Pregnancy pain – low back pain, SI joint pain, SPD, rib pain, tailbone discomfort – typically responds well to targeted movement and an understanding of what’s driving it, and that’s different for each condition. A program that combines that pain support with broader pelvic floor and core training tends to be more useful across the full course of pregnancy than treating them as separate resources. RYC® Bump & Birth includes dedicated videos for seven common pregnancy conditions alongside full pregnancy workouts and birth preparation, so the pain support sits within the broader foundation.

How does pelvic floor training during pregnancy help with birth and recovery?

During labor, a pelvic floor that has learned to respond to and coordinate with breath and pressure can work with the pushing stage rather than against it. It has practiced lengthening while staying engaged instead of gripping when the stress increases. Birth can be stressful, we want you staying centered and focussed.

That same coordination is important after birth too. Throughout pregnancy, you’re preparing for labor and building movement patterns your body can return to during recovery.

RYC® Bump & Birth takes you through pregnancy with that in mind and includes an early postpartum workout you can begin from two weeks after birth. The preparation and the recovery are designed to flow together, so you’re not finishing one program and wondering what comes next.

What’s the difference between a prenatal fitness program and birth preparation – and do I need both?

A prenatal fitness program keeps you strong and mobile as your body changes across pregnancy. Birth preparation trains the specific systems involved in labor – pelvic floor release, breath under pressure, nervous system regulation – so your body knows what to do when the moment comes. Most programs offer one or the other. RYC® Bump & Birth combines both, along with pain and symptom support and early postpartum recovery, because these things work better together than they do in isolation.

Train your body so you can
trust it in birth.

*No spam. Just gentle support for your pregnancy & recovery.
